Think of Gensis as a bridge being supported by God. The bridge starts "In the Beginning..." where we were made in the “image” and “likeness” of God. Moving over the bridge, we start to understand how and why YAHWEH came to choose Abram’s family line through whom God establish His covenant with Abraham and subsequently the people group known as the Israelites. As we reach the other side and look back we start to understand what it looks like to live under God’s grace. Abraham’s family line, being chosen by YAHWEH whom He established His covenant, were set apart as an example of the redemptive power God revealed in restoring His relationship with mankind. The message -- though man will face many difficulties, God's faithfulness, providence and consistency show the good His plans are for us even though it feel like the difficulties may be intended for evil.[1]
